Why is your tooth whitening more expensive than beauty salons?

First and foremost it's important to realise that tooth whitening carried out by non-registered professionals such as beauticians is actually illegal.

As qualified dentists we are bound by a code of practice which means that we use the most conservative and least harmful methods to whiten your teeth.

What method would you use to whiten my teeth?

We make a mould of your teeth which we use to construct a thin mouth guard this fits very closely to the teeth and we call a whitening tray. The actual whitening is done by application of a whitening gel that safely whitens your teeth. You will be shown how to apply the whitening gel in your tray and wear it at home – usually for a couple of hours or overnight – followed by a final review at our practice to assess the result. We will take a shade of your teeth before and after your treatment to ensure the optimal effect of the treatment is achieved.

Are the chemicals used harmful to my teeth?

We use safe concentration of whitening gel which won't harm the enamel on your teeth. Stronger concentrations of gels which have not been clinically tested are often used by non-registered professionals – results are unpredictable and you run a real risk of permanently damaging your teeth.

Are there any risks with your tooth whitening treatment?

Besides using gels that have been clinically tested and proven over many years it's important for your peace of mind to know that all the equipment used for your tooth whitening treatment is fully disinfected. The sterilisation and disinfection process makes sure you don't catch any infections or diseases such as hepatitis B which is a risk in non registered practises such as beauticians . We only use laboratories registered with the General Dental Council for tray manufacture and these laboratories guarantee a quality clean product made specifically for you.

Do you guarantee your treatment?

If you're not fully satisfied with the results of your tooth whitening treatment we offer a no quibble money back guarantee. So far we have never had to refund any tooth whitening patient.

Does the treatment hurt?

You may experience some mild sensitivity which would normally peak around day 3. If you have existing sensitive teeth we may need to reduce this first before the whitening programme begins. Your dentist will fully inform you of what to expect at your consultation.

How long does the tooth whitening treatment take?

Using a tray based system the majority of the whitening effect occurs in the first 2 weeks, but prolonging treatment for 4 weeks has shown in clinical studies to give a longer lasting deeper effect.
